The Position: The Senior Financial Analyst is the top position within an accounting, financial analysis, and economics professional career path. Financial Analysts develop and produce special financial analyses involving accounting cost and margin performance, economic/market trending, capacity and fixed asset replenishing, and operating performance. Advancement to Senior Financial Analyst requires the ability to conduct studies and provide decision support at the corporate and subsidiary levels dealing with partnerships, acquisitions, expansions, and business direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Researches and analyzes industry prospects for new ventures and product lines within existing and anticipated capacity, and/or purchases of complimentary business units, trademarks, and technologies at the domestic and international level.
  • Researches and recommends business opportunities and develops studies and decision support tools to support senior leadership and legal counsel with due diligence. Performs market trending, revenue stream, and valuation analysis supporting proposals.
  • Conducts specific research on ancillary products, accessories, and other value-added services that can contribute to 'smoothing' revenue swings of core products. Works with research and development, marketing, and sales on perfecting these opportunities.
  • Conducts and prepares valuations of businesses, product lines, expansions, retirements, and equipment to support corporate purchase and replacement strategies.
  • Researches and extracts data from records of financial transactions in customer, project, or corporate accounting systems. Studies cost and revenue performance for all product lines. Forecasts supply chain and inventory needs.
  • Participates in company-wide initiatives for total quality, identifying information flow and performance improvement areas. Develops tools and periodic reports of progress.
  • Evaluates and projects revenue and expense trends. Computes and tracks pertinent business and operating ratios to include but not be limited to liquidity, rate-of-return, productivity, margin, and sales and manufacturing projections.
  • Evaluates the revenue and expense trends of competitors, existing and desired product lines that exist in the competitive market. May perform this function in connection with evaluating supplier and customer credit and developing financing packages to support acquisitions of businesses, capacity, equipment, and infrastructure.
  • Prepares periodic performance reports and managerial information tools and reports such as for estimating revenues, backlog, and expenses for current and anticipated business commitments.
  • Compiles, categorizes, and organizes data to support cost accounting. Works with division/plant level financial analysts and accountants to continually update standard costs for labor, materials, finished goods, and price strategies.
  • Reviews accounting systems for controls, account classifications, and reports. Develops instructions for accounting reports. Conducts tests of automated accounting transactions to determine accuracy and proper allocation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Business, Economics, or Accounting.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in financial analysis of business performance and cost structures.
  • CPA certificate or Master's degree in business can substitute for experience.

Pay range begins at $94,200 with a discretionary target bonus of 25%.
