The Position:

The Human Resource Generalist performs human resources related duties at the professional level and has responsibilities in the following functioning areas: employment, employee relations, employee benefits, and training.

PAY RANGE STARTING AT $70,000-$88,000.

DISCRETIONARY TARGET BONUS OF 17%.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with interviews, screening and recruitment of job applicants to fill entry-level, professional, and technical job openings; works with various recruiters, job boards or temp agencies in doing so.
  • Reviews initial applications and coordinates interviews with applicants either alone or chairing an interview process involving several members of management.
  • Facilitates the post interview discussion/selection process.
  • Works closely with the Employment Manager on stated employment matters.
  • Assists with development and implementation of local and GFG HR Initiatives such as performance management and training & development programs.
  • Creates and conducts HR reports, provides back-up for orientation, and hiring new hires into Peoplesoft.
  • Administers FMLA, Sickness & Accident benefits, and educates employees on available EAP services.
  • Provides oversight for executive expense reporting and Investigates and works with legal department in response to all outside agency charges (EEOC, IDHR, NLRB, etc.).
  • Represents the Company in initial unemployment claims.
  • Maintains good working relationship with Union officials, is knowledgeable of Union contract and rules.
  • Knowledgeable of employee benefits providing assistance and back-up to the Manager Benefits & HRIS.
  • Facilitates providing training to the hourly and salaried workforce.
  • Identify and initiate organizational development opportunities for salaried employees.
  • Performs other HR duties, as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management from a four-year college or university and five years experience in the HR field.
  • SHRM-CP certification preferred.
  • Must be capable of using personal computers and Microsoft software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Must be knowledgeable of or capable of learning the PeopleSoft and Prism systems.
  • Personable, assertive and goal oriented. Must be well organized and capable of handling multiple tasks and priorities in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Interface effectively with personnel within and outside the company including Union personnel.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize work load in an efficient manner.
