We are looking for a Reliability Engineer to work closely with other Engineering, Maintenance, and/or Reliability personnel to deliver reliability, supporting the need to increase asset performance to meet/outperform output and quality targets. The primary role of the Reliability Engineer is to extend the life of all assets and installations under their responsibility ensuring optimum levels of availability at the lowest total costs of ownership.

As part of the team you will:

  1. Leadership
    1. Be the Subject Matter Expert for Reliability at the site
    2. Support the leadership and drive for reliability excellence
    3. Provide leadership and guidance to ensure activities of the master plan are completed and sustained
  1. Reliability Master Plan
    1. Develop and implement a reliability master plan for the site
    2. Manage the hopper of improvement activities relating to the master plan are completed and sustained.
  1. Equipment Specification and Design
    1. Act as the Reliability representative on all new equipment projects and equipment modifications to ensure that full life cycle costing, reliability and maintainability are considered as part of any designs.
    2. Develop and maintain plant specifications that are to be used in the design of new and modified assets.
  1. Predictive and Preventive Maintenance
    1. The Reliability Engineer is the owner of the preventive and predictive maintenance system.
    2. Development and refinement of the preventive/predictive maintenance program in a systematic, professional manner coordinating all efforts with equipment custodians and maintenance management to ensure the program is properly approved and endorsed by both departments.
    3. Interact with operators, tradespeople, planners, supervisors and engineers on a regular basis to ensure the effectiveness of the PM / PdM system.
    4. Provide administration, control, and analysis of all data, records, and equipment histories to continually review and refine PM frequencies
    5. Coordinate and provide training on PdM techniques for selected maintenance personnel on the following topics:
      1. Vibration analysis
      2. Thermal Imaging (Thermography)
      3. Oil analysis (Tribology)
      4. Ultrasonic
  1. Asset Management Strategy
    1. The Reliability Engineer will coordinate the development, implementation and review the asset management strategy for each critical asset in the facility. The asset management strategy contains:
      1. Asset Functional Description
      2. Functional Analysis
      3. Asset Record Summary
      4. Criticality Analysis
      5. FMEA
      6. Life Cycle Cost Analysis
      7. Capacity Plan
      8. Equipment Maintenance Plan (EMP)
      9. Technical References and Drawings
      10. Engineering Project documentation.
  1. Analysis of Equipment Performance
    1. Use statistical analysis techniques in the development of engineering solutions to repetitive equipment failures and other equipment problems, implementing ways of reducing the need for maintenance and ultimately eliminating the occurrence of failures. Repetitive failures are identified and the PM is refined by dynamic and relevant:
      1. Review of predictive and other inspections
      2. Analysis of equipment histories, maintenance cost reports, and failure report
      3. Review of service and inspection records
      4. Analysis of work order data
  1. Perform FMEA, RCM & RCFA
    1. Perform Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM)as specified by the Reliability Master Plan for the facility
    2. Coordinate and/or perform Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for all significant failures in the facility.
  1. Reliability Reporting and Communication
    1. Develop and define the Key Performance Indicators for Reliability for the facility.
    2. Create, manage and communicate the monthly Reliability Dashboard for the facility base on the above KPI.
    3. Report on a yearly basis to senior management on all aspects of Reliability within the facility.
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation and Auditing
    1. Monitor, evaluate and audit all aspects of the Reliability Process in the facility on a set frequency

Success in this position is defined as follows:

  1. Increase MTBF
  2. Reduce MTTR
  3. Reduce Unplanned Maintenance Downtime [UMD] Ratio
  4. Lower material costs
  5. Extended equipment life
  6. Deliver a robust and efficient Work Management Process
  7. Reduce Repairs and Maintenance Costs
  8. Correct Critical Spares held and managed
  9. A living & auditable PM & PdM program
  10. Reliability is a 'Way of Life'

Required Qualifications Include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from a four-year college or university and three years related experience and/or training; will consider comparable work experience in lieu of degree. Desirable though not essential a qualification in reliability
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
